Metafold’s geometry computation engine can generate highly accurate designs for complex parts suitable for 3D printing. This technology is available through Metafold's cloud-based software platform, which can be used on any device. This allows design and engineering teams to efficiently create optimized parts using either the Metafold web application or the Metafold Engine API to build customized tools and integrations. By using this sophisticated geometry support, Metafold helps manufacturers reduce the raw materials used and create parts that are lighter and more energy-efficient, helping achieve sustainability goals.

Metafold’s solutions are claimed to reduce material costs by 50% and design time by 50%–98% to create parts that are lighter and more energy efficient.

In November 2023, Metafold rolled out a new feature to improve the appeal and acceptance of 3D printing and lightweighting over traditional manufacturing methods. The update included changes in Metafold’s user interface and API, to make the platform easy to use for engineers and software developers.

Funding and financials

In July 2023, Metafold raised USD 1.78 million in a seed funding round led by Differential Ventures to address geometry challenges that hinder the widespread adoption of 3D printing.
