Tungsten Automation (formerly Kofax) offers a low-code/no-code end-to-end process automation platform named the TotalAgility Platform which combines robotic process automation (RPA) and AI technology to enable users to build and deploy automated workflows for a wide range of tasks. The platform features 1) intelligent document processing​, which enables users to automate the extraction of information from unstructured data, 2) process orchestration​, which enables users to collaborate on the coordination, management and automation of their digital workflows, and 3) an integration suite, which allows users to connect critical business operations, enterprise applications, legacy systems, and mobile devices, via pre-built connectors, web services and synthetic APIs.

Users can extract data from financial statements, contracts, forms and other documents and deploy natural language processing (NLP) to act on and interpret data for applications such as content classification, summarization, and sentiment analysis. Furthermore, users can leverage the platform’s drag and drop interface to configure business logic and create their own automation solutions and RPA bots. The platform also provides a range of options for deployment including the Kofax Cloud, which runs on Microsoft Azure, Docker containers, and on-premises.

Moreover, the platform also features a range of solutions for financial process automation, document automation and document productivity. These include pre-integrated RPA workflows, accounts payable automation, mobile capture solutions, electronic signature solutions, analytics, and case management capabilities among several other individual tools.

Kofax also offers a marketplace of pre-built automation solutions that include a range of free and paid solutions created by other users. These range from connectors and pre-built workflows, to training guides and other educational resources. In August 2023, the company launched an Azure OpenAI connector for TotalAgility on the Kofax marketplace, to enable users to leverage GenAI in their intelligent automation workflows, to generate improved insights from their business data. Specifically, the new solution can be used to better analyze unstructured text, summarizing large amounts of content, and generate meaningful replies to user queries.

Moreover, the company has made a series of acquisitions to expand its product portfolio. In 2022, the company acquired 2 companies; Tungsten (June), a B2B e-invoicing network, and Ephesoft (August), a document and data capture solutions provider, for undisclosed sums. The company leveraged the acquisition of Tungsten to expand its solutions for financial process automation, and the acquisition of Ephesoft, to add to its intelligent document processing (IDP) solutions and go-to-market channels.

As of November 2023, the company served over 25,000 customers across a number of industries including financial services, insurance, government, healthcare, and supply chain. Its large enterprise clients include ING, Visa, JP Morgan, Aviva, MetLife, Merck, and Fujitsu.

It also delivers its products and solutions via direct sales, service distributors and over 850 channel partners and integrators across 60 countries.
