Evyon (formerly RePack), is a Norwegian startup that repurposes EV batteries to develop modular DC battery energy storage systems.
The company’s flagship product, Evyon Industrial, is a battery solution that can be scaled for varying applications ranging from commercial buildings to EV charging, and back up power. It is built from batteries of leading German car manufacturers and provides continuous cloud monitoring for enhanced safety, longevity, and performance.
Further, units can be linked together to generate kWh to MWh level power output and works with inverters up to 1000 V DC.
Key customers and partnerships
Evyon delivered its first pilot industrial battery system in February 2023, and has signed several letters of intent (LOI) with customers (Kvernel Energi, Moller Eiendom, Integrate Renewables) to provide industrial battery systems.
Evyon has several partnerships with researchers, industry experts, as well as automotive manufacturers to advance the development of its systems. Some notable partners are Accenture, Autodesk, Innovation Norway, Batteriretur, and Mercedes-Benz Energy.
Funding and financials
Evyon’s latest funding was in November 2022, when it raised EUR 8 million (USD 8.3 million) in a pre-Series A funding round. The funding consisted of EUR 7 million in equity and EUR 1 million in debt and was backed by lead investor Sandwater, with participation from Antler, Wiski Capital, and Skagerak Energi. The funding was earmarked for accelerating the transition of Evyon’s commercial and industrial systems from prototype to mass production.
