Ravel (formerly Regenerated Textile) is a startup that converts end-of-life blended fiber into new polyester fiber or feedstock using locally deployed, shipping container-sized, micro-recycling factories that it claims can be scaled globally. Ravel uses chemical catalysts and low-temperature aqueous chemical processes to extract polyester from discarded clothing. The material is then ready to be used in manufacturing new products or raw materials for making new plastics.
Ravel is yet to commercialize its technology as of February 2024.

In 2022, the company launched a pilot program with King County, Seattle, to convert landfill-bound textile waste into new socks to donate to regional houseless populations.

In April 2023, the company was awarded a USD 10,000 grant from NextCycle Washington’s Circular Accelerator Program to support commercialization of its technology.
