Nexus Renewables is a full-service renewable energy developer and independent power producer specializing in solar and energy storage projects in North America. The company focuses on developing distributed and utility-scale renewable energy resources to enhance grid stability and provide clean energy solutions. As of June 2023, Nexus Renewables had a portfolio of over one gigawatt (GW) of solar and energy storage projects under various stages of construction and development across the US and Canada.
In September 2022, Nexus Renewables secured a USD 5 million USD asset-backed credit facility from Scale Microgrid Solutions to advance over 100 megawatts (MW) of late-stage distributed solar and energy storage projects, estimated to generate enough electricity for 150,000 homes while avoiding 120,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
Nexus Renewables made a transformative move in June 2023 by pivoting from a pure-play renewable developer to an independent power producer. The company closed multiple financings totaling over USD 40 million USD to construct a 10MW/40MWh battery energy storage system in Fairfield, California, and advance development of a larger 300MW/600MWh battery storage project near Houston, Texas. These financings included a USD 13.3 million senior secured loan, USD 14.5 million project-level financing, USD 5 million CAD in preferred shares, and a USD 10.8 million tax equity commitment.
In January 2022, Nexus Renewables entered an agreement with Scale Microgrid Solutions to fund the development, construction, and acquisition of a USD 100 million portfolio of distributed solar, storage, and hybrid projects across the US.
