Airtable is a no-code platform that blends traditional spreadsheets with databases, with options of adding widgets and other features to the spreadsheet. The platform can be used to build a variety of applications for different activities in an enterprise such as sales and marketing, content marketing, project management, and portfolio management. Users have access to a number of tools that add additional functionality to applications such as pre-built layouts and a number of integrations with third-party apps such as Zendesk, Jira, Slack, and Salesforce.
In September 2020, the company added low-code capabilities to the platform, which allows users to build apps using JavaScript as well as new automation and syncing fevatures. It also launched the Airtable app store marketplace where users can share their apps with other users. In June 2023, the company launched a beta program expanding access to Airtable AI, enabling ent, erprises to develop and deploy generative AI applications for business workflows.
Airtable acquired a smaller no-code data visualization platform, Bayes , for an undisclosed sum in August 2021, marking its first acquisition since inception, to offn er Airtable users access to more insights, data visualizations, and reporting features. In January 2024, the company acquired Airplane, a workflow building platform, and Balsa, a software project tracking tool, for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition enabled Airtable to onboard the engineering teams of both companies into its own product development team and leverage their domain expertise to further develop its platform.
