Airtable is a no-code platform that blends traditional spreadsheets with databases, with options of adding widgets and other features to the spreadsheet. The platform can be used to build a variety of applications for different activities in an enterprise such as sales and marketing, content marketing, project management, and portfolio management. Users have access to a number of tools that add additional functionality to applications. Moreover, its users included large global enterprises, including Expedia, Netflix, and Shopify.
In September 2020, the company added low-code capabilities to the platform, which allows users to build apps using JavaScript. It also launched the Airtable app store marketplace where users can share their apps with other users. It also offers automation and syncing features. In June 2023, the company launched a beta program expanding access to Airtable AI, enabling enterprises to develop and deploy generative AI applications for business workflows.
Airtable’s revenue amounted to around USD 20 million in 2018.
Airtable raised USD 735 million in Series F funding in December 2021, at a USD 11.8 billion (post-money) valuation led by XN. This was more than double its USD 5.8 billion valuation in March 2021. The funds were earmarked for investment in product development, customer growth, and increased support for enterprise teams across several industries. As of March 2021, the startup reported having around 250,000 enterprise customers.
Airtable acquired a smaller no-code data visualization platform, Bayes , for an undisclosed sum in August 2021, marking its first acquisition since inception, to offer Airtable users access to more insights, data visualizations, and reporting features.
