Hotel Engine offers a free-to-use platform with more than 700,000 listed properties available worldwide for business travel solutions. Platform features include: a dashboard to manage business bookings; centralized lodging management with features such as department caps and maximum nightly rates; its direct billing program that provides folios and a monthly reconciled invoice; “Bleisure” travel for members, where a business trip extends into a personal vacation; and group bookings for healthcare staff and company events. In December 2022, Hotel Engine launched Flex Coverage, which allowed reservations to be canceled up until noon on the day of check-in without penalties and premature departures during the reservation period with compensation received for unused nights. In October 2022, Hotel Engine announced that the UK and Ireland would be its first international markets, and that it would be active in two European cities by January 2023.

In September 2020, HotelRunner acquired the rate analysis, shopping, and comparison platform, RateFor, to add rate-optimization solutions to its product suite.

HotelRunner uses a subscription-based business model, which includes a freemium plan with paid plans starting at ~USD 10. Integrations such as custom apps (USD 149) and software for property management (USD 149 per integration), group hotel management (USD 69), revenue management (USD 49–USD 149), and guest relationship management (USD 19) are also available.

Key customers and partnerships

In August 2023, HotelRunner partnered with Triage to enhance its metasearch offerings, by leveraging Trivago's extensive user base to increase bookings and revenue growth.

As of February 2023, the company worked with more than 60,000 accommodation providers and more than 150 travel agencies. HotelRunner is also a trusted technology partner for Expedia Group, Booking.com, Airbnb, Oracle, and Agoda.

Recent direct contracts negotiated by HotelRunner to add services of other travel platforms include that with Mercan Tourism (January 2023), HPro Travel (September 2022), PeakPoint (June 2022), HIS Travel (August 2021), Global Travel Services (March 2021), Hoo (January 2021), and Hotelbeds (January 2021). Other partnerships included that with Wix (June 2022) to redevelop and launch the Wix Hotels platform and with automated pricing software RoomPriceGenie (January 2021) to add its services as an integration on the HotelRunner Store.

Funding and financials

In January 2023, HotelRunner raised USD 6.5 million in a Series A financing round with participation from 212, Wix Capital, and Founders Factory, among others. The funding was to be utilized for headcount expansion and client base growth.
