Canadian Rockies Hemp Corporation (CRHC) is a Canadian company that provides hemp processing, processed hemp fiber, and biomaterials for industrial uses. The company grows and harvests its hemp to suit customer specifications and offers four product types: Decorticated "Long'' Fiber (processed to maintain length, tensile strength, and durability); Decorticated "Short" Fiber (processed to shorter lengths); Hurd/Shiv (the woody inner core of the hemp stalk); and Screenings/Pellets (used for spill absorption, cat litter, soil amendments, or as a biofuel). CHRC is also developing  Degummed/Cottonized Fiber, which is customizable for fineness, color, and length to meet specifications for textiles and nonwovens.

CRHC contracts farmers to grow single-purpose hemp for fiber while it undertakes all harvest activities and processing. The company’s Bruderheim processing facility uses a decortication process to produce hemp fibers to be shipped to customers in North America and internationally for a range of industries. The company commissioned its first processing line in 2023 and began fulfilling purchase orders, having completed construction of its 40,000 sq ft Bruderheim processing facility in 2022, which has two processing lines installed. As of January 2024, the facility is capable of processing up to 50,000 acres of hemp annually and producing 50,000 tonnes of fiber and 110,000 tonnes of Hurd.

CRHC reported that it completed the largest-ever hemp fiber harvest in North America of 6,000 acres in 2022. The company patented its degumming technology and custom harvest equipment in 2021 and was taking final steps to monetize soil carbon credit opportunities in 2023.

Key customers and partnerships:

CRHC partners with local farmers to grow the hemp that it processes. In 2022, the company also partnered with Results Driven Agriculture Research (RDAR) and the Institute of Bast Crops in Ukraine to add Ukrainian single-purpose fiber varieties to Canada's current List of Approved Cultivars (LOAC) varieties. In March 2023, the company imported hemp seeds from Ukraine to be cultivated for fiber production.

Funding and financials:

In February 2021, the company announced a CAD 18 million (~USD 13.5 million) equity and debt financing round led by Merida Capital Holdings to complete the construction of its Bruderheim facility.
