Flyhound Corporation is a technology startup that provides a patented drone solution to locate missing persons rapidly in challenging outdoor environments. The company's innovative technology incorporates algorithms developed by NEC Laboratories Europe that can be mounted on a drone to triangulate cellular signals from the mobile devices of missing people and disaster victims.
Flyhound's solution displays the location of missing individuals on a digital map of the search area in real-time, reducing the time required for search and rescue operations by 100 times compared to current methods. This technology does not require an active cellular network signal, making it ideal for use in remote areas or disaster zones where cellular infrastructure is unavailable or disabled.
Unlike existing search and rescue drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras, Flyhound can locate missing people even when their view is obstructed by trees, foliage, or structures, as it detects their mobile device signals. The solution can also identify channel artifacts produced by different propagation environments, such as rubble caused by earthquakes or floodwaters, enabling the detection of disaster victims.
Additionally, Flyhound integrates into unmanned aerial vehicle and incident management platforms, allowing public safety agencies to rapidly deploy the technology to meet their changing needs. The company graduated from NEC X's Venture Studio Program in January 2023 and has been accepted into the Alchemist Accelerator and the TELUS Community Safety and Wellness Program to enhance its business launch.
