Pionix is a German open-source software company that develops the EVerest software stack. The company provides BaseCamp, a commercial grade EV charger operating system based on EVerest. Due to it being open-source, it provides the customer significant customisation and integration capabilities.
In addition, the company also offers Belay Box, a complete charging station development kit available in two versions, Yeti and Yak. Customers can combine the Belay Box, or their own hardware and BaseCamp to develop their own EV charging infrastructure customized to their requirements.

In October 2022 , Pionix partnered with Chargebyte to integrate EVerest software onto the its charging infrastructure control modules. In October 2023 , the company partnered with Bender GmbH, a company making electrical systems more intelligent and safe, to integrate a communication interface to Bender’s sensors into Pionix’s open source software. During the same month , Global Brain, a Tokyo-based venture capital firm invested an undisclosed amount in the company.
In November 2023 , Pionix partnered with Qwello, a public charging operator, where the latter intends to run all of its chargers using EVerest.
Funding and financials
In May 2023, the company raised EUR 5 million (~USD 5.3 million) in an oversubscribed seed funding round co-led by Yabeo Impact AG and Pale Blue Dot, with participation from Vireo Ventures, Mobility Fund, and Axeleo Capital. The funding was earmarked for establishing its open-source stack as a global avenue for achieving more standardized and efficient development in the EV charging industry.
