CookUnity is a platform that connects independent chefs and consumers. Users can order meals for a week or multiple days from menus prepared by more than 50 independent chefs. The platform allows personalization of meals according to consumer preferences and differentiates itself by offering meals that can be classified as “home-cooked.”
Its unique operating model allows independent chefs to apply through their website and, once approved, work according to a pre-authorized schedule.
In September 2021, the company raised USD 47 million in a Series B funding round led by Insight Partners. The company intended to use the funds to finance a major expansion drive across the US, with a target of serving 88% of the US population by mid-2022. It will start by opening kitchens in Atlanta and Miami by end 2021 and will add on 100 chefs to its roster by mid-2022 (from the current count of 50) as part of the expansion plan.
