Intermedia Cloud Communications is a business communications platform which was acquired by the private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Partners in 2011, and then re-acquired by Madison Dearborn Partners in 2017. The company offers a gamut of services such as voice calling, video conferencing, email, file transferring, security, and archiving services.
In April 2020, the company entered into a five-year partnership with NEC Corp, the Japanese electronics company. As a result of the partnership, NEC and around 400 of its partners will resell Intermedia’s services to around 80 million business phone customers of NEC.
As of December 2020, it has a clientele of over 7,000 partners reselling its services to 122,000 business customers.In August 2024, the company launched Intermedia Unite for Microsoft teams to provide a fully integrated cloud communication platform.

In February 2021, the company filed for an initial public offering of up to USD 100 million and later in March 2021, announced terms to raise USD 300 million by issuing 12.2 million shares at a midpoint price of USD 24.5 per share. The middle range forecast of the IPO would leave the company with a fully diluted market value of USD 1.7 billion. However, immediately following this announcement, the company delayed its initial public offering due to challenging market conditions for IPOs.
