Fallen Planet Studios is a UK-based VR game development studio. The company’s flagship game “Affected: The Manor” is a 10–15 minute VR horror adventure game, accessible to a casual audience not acquainted with videogames, given its simplistic move controls. The game also uses spatial audio and varied lighting elements for a better user experience, while offering four alternate game endings. The game was initially released as “Affected” on the Oculus Rift DK1, although compatibility was extended toward the latest-gen VR headsets.
The game is priced at USD 10, with the company also generating revenue by licensing the game to VR game arcades in the form of monthly subscriptions or per-minute rates.
As of September 2023, the company was looking to release the next installment of the Affected franchise on all major VR platforms in 2024, titled “Affect: The Asylum.” The game would feature new game modes, interaction mechanics, and co-op story driven content for up to four players.
Apart from the company’s Affected IP, the company developed the family-friendly VR experience “Escape From Emerald Mine.” This was initially licensed to a motion simulator platform in South Korea and has since rolled out the ride to the rest of the world.
