Founded in 2023, Cranium is an enterprise AI security and trust software company, enabling organizations to gain visibility, security, and compliance across their AI and GenAI systems. Cranium has been incubated and funded in stealth inside of KPMG Studio.
Using the Cranium Enterprise software platform, organizations can map, monitor, and manage their AI/ML environments against threats without interrupting their teams’ training, testing, and deployment of AI models. The Cranium platform allows organizations to quickly gather and share information about the trustworthiness and compliance of their AI models with their third parties, clients, and regulators.
Cranium’s software is custom-built to address the gap between data science, compliance, and cybersecurity teams by providing a single source of truth for AI security risks. Cranium’s “AI cards” can be used by organizations to demonstrate AI/ML compliance and to showcase the security and trustworthiness of one AI pipeline, one asset, or an entire organization’s AI systems. It supports compliance mapping to the NIST AI RMF and EU AI Act. Some of the features of Cranium’s platform include minimum configurations, no-code analysis, rapid time-to-value, tool- and cloud-agnostic, the ability to automatically map and visualize the AI pipelines, and integration with the current tool set.
Funding and financials
In October 2023 , Cranium raised USD 25 million in a Series A funding round led by Telstra Ventures, with participation from KPMG LLP and SYN Ventures. The funds were slated to be allocated toward innovation, research, development, and expanding the company’s business operations.
