Zenflow

Zenflow, founded in 2014, is a medical device company that has developed the Spring System, a minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or enlarged prostate. The Spring System is designed to prop open the urethra, mitigating BPH symptoms without surgery or medications. The device consists of a low-profile superelastic implant delivered into the prostatic urethra using a thin, flexible catheter with built-in visualization. This procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, without cutting, heating, or removal of prostate tissue.

The Zenflow Spring System aims to provide rapid symptom relief for BPH patients, with studies showing significant improvements in International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and quality of life measures. In the ZEST CAN study, patients experienced a 46% improvement in IPSS and a 56% improvement in IPSS-QOL from baseline at 12 months. The study also reported a 45% improvement in peak urinary flow rate (Qmax). Importantly, the treatment did not cause sexual dysfunction, and some patients even reported improvements in ejaculatory function.

The company's technology is designed to be gentle on patients, with minimal bleeding and no burning sensation or incisions. While the implant is intended to be permanent, it can be removed if desired.
