Mithril Security

Mithril Security is a Paris-based data privacy firm, developing tools enabling the deployment of SaaS and AI in secure environments. The firm caters to the developers of SaaS and AI-based products. It uses confidential computing methodology and hardware-based trusted execution environments (TEEs) for deployment of these applications. This allows the encrypted data to be fed into the secure enclave by end users of the SaaS platform to be decrypted and processed by the application. During this process, the SaaS provider has no visibility of the decrypted data.

Mithril operates on an open-source basis for most of its products, including BlindAPI, a solution allowing developers to leverage AI in their applications, and BlindBox, a tool allowing the use of large language models (LLMs) with sensitive data while preserving privacy.

Funding and financials

In a pre-seed funding round held in May 2023, Mithril raised EUR 1.2 million (~USD 1.3 million) from CyberImpact, Polytechnique Venture, and ITFarm. The company planned to utilize the proceeds to develop its Blindbox privacy tool for large language models.
