iRhythm Technologies is a digital healthcare company that offers the Zio service, a complete ambulatory cardiac monitoring solution designed to aid in the diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmias. The Zio service consists of a wearable biosensor patch (the Zio monitor), an advanced AI algorithm called ZEUS (Zio ECG Utilization Software) for analyzing the recorded ECG data, and a comprehensive report reviewed by certified cardiographic technicians.
The Zio monitor is a prescription-only ECG monitor that can be worn continuously for up to 14 days, enabling long-term continuous monitoring of arrhythmia events in non-critical care patients. It is designed to improve diagnostic yield, patient compliance, and overall experience through its compact form factor, breathable and waterproof design, and ease of wear without requiring any device manipulation or battery changes during the monitoring period.
iRhythm's ZEUS system, which received FDA clearance in July 2022, combines deep-learned algorithms with a cardiac arrhythmia service to analyze the ECG data recorded by the Zio monitor. The system has been clinically proven to be as accurate as expert cardiologists in detecting arrhythmias.
Clinical studies have found that the Zio service has demonstrated superior diagnostic yield and accuracy compared to traditional monitoring methods. The CAMELOT study, presented in March 2023, found that Zio long-term continuous monitoring service was associated with the highest diagnostic yield, lowest likelihood of retesting, and lowest likelihood of acute care hospitalization compared to other monitoring services.
In September 2023, iRhythm launched its next-generation Zio monitor, which is 23% thinner, 62% lighter, and 72% smaller than its predecessor, further enhancing the patient wear experience. The company also introduced enhancements to its MyZio patient app and patient support processes to improve the overall experience.
