Unitea is an engage-to-earn music streaming platform that fosters stronger bonds between artists and their fans while providing advertising opportunities for brands to enhance the user experience. Unitea rewards fans for streaming and sharing music from their favorite artists in exchange for rewards verified through blockchain technology. In return, fans are awarded with Karma, digital tokens that can be exchanged for exclusive rewards including custom digital assets, concert tickets, and artist meet-and-greets. This also generates valuable data for artists and brands where brands can leverage this data for advertising purposes, while artists gain valuable insights about their fanbases through access to the data.

Unitea offers features for creators and artists such as its Fan Data Dashboard, Fan Insights, Artist Relations Concierge Service, and more. According to Unitea, the benefits of its platform include boosting streaming traffic by encouraging listeners through targeted campaigns that offer rewards, obtaining fan data, forming connections with global brand partners, and engaging with fans in new ways.

Artists have the opportunity to collaborate with the Unitea team to develop exclusive rewards for their fans, encompassing physical, digital, and experiential offerings. They can also encourage fans to download the Unitea app, follow their artist page, and redeem the rewards. The earning potential of artists is directly linked to the quantity of Karma that their fans exchange in return for these rewards.

Unitea operates on a business model where brands pay a "data licensing fee" and artists receive a "data royalty" based on the Karma redeemed for rewards. This royalty is equivalent to 50 cents per redeemed stream (as of 2021). The platform is free to use for artists and fans.

Unitea has achieved over 2,000 reward activations since its pre-seed round began in 2020.

It has collaborated with Procter & Gamble to develop engage-to-earn platforms and has actively engaged with 42 music festivals, including Breakaway, Gem & Jam, and Dirtybird Campout, through its Unitea App.

Funding and financials

Unitea’s latest funding round was in May 2023 when it raised USD 7 million in a round led by 1st Class Guernsey, Chaos Capital, TokenSociety, and Fuel Venture Capital. The company stated it planned to use the funds to further enhance the functions of its platform.
