Spacedrip is an Estonian startup founded in 2020 that has developed automated treatment systems for wastewater. The company's technology utilizes microorganisms in activated sludge to remove carbonaceous, nitrogenous, and phosphorous matter from wastewater, making it suitable for irrigation, laundry, or toilet flushing purposes. Spacedrip's systems are modular and designed to operate off-grid in areas with water scarcity.
The treatment process incorporates live sensors and can recover heat from warm greywater. In September 2023, Spacedrip raised over USD 1.6 million in a seed round co-led by forestry group Vestman Energia. The funding enabled the company to prepare for sending its first batch of systems to the US Army for testing.
