Somethings is a peer support platform that uses asynchronous messaging to connect teenagers with mentors between the ages of 19 and 28. Mentors are matched with teens based on their shared backgrounds and situational experiences. Mentors provide preventive mental wellness support, help teens develop resilience tools, and identify early warning signs of clinical conditions.
All mentors are required to undergo a background check and complete two training models, including Medicaid-reimbursable state provider-led peer specialist training and an internal program built by Somethings. As of May 2023, the company had over 25 mentors and was available in a public beta across the US.
The company operates a D2C subscription-based business model with two programs. Its “Unlimited” membership program was priced at USD 149 per month, offering unlimited texting with a designated mentor throughout the month. Parents also receive a monthly update from the mentor. Its “Unlimited+” program provides unlimited text and video calls with 3 month parent check-ins in addition to monthly updates along with on-demand support. Somethings charges USD 219 per month for the program.
