Heliox

Heliox, founded in 2009, specializes in fast charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), particularly focusing on commercial fleets and heavy-duty applications such as electric buses, trucks, and passenger cars. The company offers a range of charging products, including portable chargers, flexible DC charging solutions, and bidirectional V2X-capable chargers. Heliox's charging systems provide power outputs ranging from 40 kW to over a megawatt for commercial EV depots. The company's portable chargers are designed to be durable, lightweight, and easily maneuverable, connecting to standardized wall sockets for ease of use. Heliox's Flex system, a configurable DC charging solution, can deliver 60 to 360 kW of power to vehicles via CCS2 or pantograph coupler, suitable for both overnight and opportunity charging. In addition to hardware, Heliox offers charger monitoring and energy management services. As of September 2022, Heliox chargers were used daily by 25,000 e-buses and e-trucks, with an estimated 3,000 tons of CO2 saved per day. In January 2024, Siemens completed its acquisition of Heliox, integrating the company's portfolio into Siemens eMobility to strengthen its position in the DC fast charging solutions market for eBus and eTruck fleets.

Key customers and partnerships

Heliox has installed rapid charging solutions in over 100 global cities. Notable projects include one of Europe's first and largest rapid charging networks for the e-bus fleet in Eindhoven, Netherlands, installed in 2017, and the world's largest rapid charging network for an e-bus depot at Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam, completed in 2018. In the US, Heliox provided charging solutions for Knoxville Area Transit in 2021 and was selected as one of the charging providers for King County Metro in Seattle. In Glasgow, Heliox supplied charging units for the Caledonia bus depot, set to become the UK's largest electric vehicle charging hub. The company has also been involved in powering Hamburg's electric bus fleet, installing charging units at the Hamburg-Schenefeld depot. Heliox has developed its charging technology in collaboration with leading European vehicle manufacturers, public transport operators, and fleet operators.
