AImotive

AiMotive is a Hungarian company specializing in artificial intelligence and autonomous driving software. Founded in 2015 by László Kishonti, AiMotive has developed a comprehensive approach to automated driving, encompassing software, simulation, and hardware platforms. The company's technology portfolio includes aiDrive (an embedded software stack for autonomous driving), aiData (AI operations and data tooling), aiWare (expertise in silicon microchips), and aiSim (software simulation for autonomous driving development). AiMotive's solutions aim to enable the deployment of affordable advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving technologies.

In November 2022, AiMotive was acquired by Stellantis, a multinational automotive manufacturing corporation. Following the acquisition, AiMotive continues to operate as a subsidiary of Stellantis while maintaining its operational independence and startup culture. The acquisition was intended to enhance Stellantis' artificial intelligence and autonomous driving core technology, expand its global talent pool, and accelerate the development of the STLA AutoDrive platform.

As of October 2023, Stellantis announced a 20 billion forint (approximately 52 million euro) investment in AiMotive, with the Hungarian government providing a 5 billion forint grant to support the investment. This move reinforces Hungary's position as Stellantis' center for self-driving technology and electric vehicles. AiMotive's developments are expected to be integrated into the vehicles of 14 Stellantis brands by 2026.

Key customers and partnerships

AiMotive has collaborated with various automotive industry players. Notably, the company's aiDrive software stack served as the foundation for Sony's prototype vehicle, the VISION-S. AiMotive has also worked with other automotive manufacturers and suppliers, leveraging its expertise in AI and autonomous driving technology to advance the development of self-driving vehicles.

Since its acquisition by Stellantis, AiMotive has become an integral part of the automotive giant's strategy for autonomous driving and artificial intelligence.
