Hungary-based aiMotive, a subsidiary of Netherland-based multinational automotive manufacturer Stellantis, develops modular self-driving technology and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) platforms for vehicles. The company’s product portfolio includes artificial intelligence (AI)-based software, development and validation tools, and processing hardware for autonomous features of vehicles. Its key product offerings are: 1) “aiDrive,” an automated driving software stack for all levels of autonomy that comes equipped with cameras, radars, LiDARs, and ultrasonic sensors; and 2) “aiSim,” a virtual simulation environment; and 3) “aiWire,” a neural processing unit for chips that compute AI for ADAS and autonomous driving.

In January 2024, the company launched “aiSim 5,” the latest version of its simulation solution, built with Automotive General Intelligence (AutoGI). The solution is powered by aiSim AIR engine, designed for multi-sensor simulation, and has an intuitive user interface named “aiFab.”

aiMotive has offices in the US, Japan, and Germany in addition to Hungary, and is testing its technology on highways in the US and Europe. The company pitches its platforms toward car manufacturers to build fully autonomous vehicles and safety and driving assist tools.

Key customers and partnerships

aiMotive has product partnerships with companies including Sony (to accelerate the development of its automated driving software stack; January 2021), and validation platform developer Foretellix (to jointly develop solutions for validation, perception, and planning for ADAS and autonomous vehicles; October 2022). It has a distribution partnership with Japanese technology solutions partner Macnica (December 2023).

The company’s aiWire has also been licensed by South Korean fabless semiconductor company, Nextchip, for automotive domain processors (October 2019). aiMotive also partnered with emotion3D, an automotive in-cabin analysis software vendor, to optimize the latter’s “DOMS” (driver and occupant monitoring system) solutions using aiWire (July 2022).
