Multiplayer is a startup that develops a collaborative platform that enables backend development teams to visualize and communicate architectural design decisions more comprehensively when working on distributed software. 

Multiplayer simplifies backend development tasks for developers by generating boilerplate code through AI assistance, helping teams of any size whose work is related to system architecture, application programming interface, and data schemas. The key features of the platform include the following: 

• AI Assist: Generates components required for distributed software development, including system architectures, APIs, service implementation, etc.

• Visualizes system architecture: Provides a holistic view of the system architecture while allowing for detailed examination of specific features and real-time changes.

• Design intent communication: Consolidates multiple document types to communicate the design intent for a particular feature.

• Formal design reviews: Facilitates design reviews and feedback from all stakeholders before moving forward with implementation.

• Real-time collaboration: Specially designed for back-end development.

• Version control and branching: To manage the code changes more effectively.

• Integration: Integrates with AWS, MongoDB Atlas, and DataDog; visualizes dependencies more clearly.

• Centralized system dashboard: Ensures system architecture is documented in a shared company-owned space where it can be maintained and the platform’s evolution can be tracked

The company planned to launch a beta version of its platform in the fall of 2023. 

Funding and financials

Multiplayer raised USD 3 million in a funding round led by Bowery Capital with participation from Okapi Venture Capital, Mitch Wainer (co-founder of DigitalOcean), and Edith Harbaugh (founder of LaunchDarkly). The raised funds will be used to further develop Multiplayer's platform.
