Parallel Wireless provides open radio access network (Open RAN) solutions for mobile network operators. The company offers a unified software-enabled platform supporting multiple generations of cellular technology, including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G. The company’s software platforms provide RAN and core services, orchestration, programmability, and service assurance, including analytics and monitoring. Parallel Wireless provides a range of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics applications such as predicting the network behavior of customers, bandwidth optimization, remedial actions for unplanned downtime, increasing network coverage, and improving handover efficiency. It also provides automation solutions for deployment, lifecycle management, and network maintenance.

Parallel Wireless also offers an Open RAN hardware ecosystem comprising macro, outdoor, and indoor small cells and multiple-in multiple-out (MIMOs) software that can be upgraded to 5G.

In December 2023, Parallel Wireless announced the general availability of what it claims to be the world's first hardware-agnostic 5G standalone software stack. This solution was designed to run on any general-purpose computing platform, including ARM and x86 processors, providing operators with the flexibility to deploy RAN infrastructure across various hardware platforms. The company has also developed energy-saving solutions, including the GreenRAN xApps suite, which aims to help operators optimize power consumption by adapting to fluctuating traffic demands.

In February 2024, Parallel Wireless launched a software solution designed to disaggregate the Open RAN software stack from the underlying compute platform, enabling companies to use CPUs from different manufacturers, including ARM-based processors. According to the company, the solution can reduce power consumption by 20% to 30% compared to Intel's FlexRAN architecture.

In 2022, Parallel Wireless laid off a significant portion of its workforce due to operational challenges resulting from Covid-19-related supply chain constraints and the pace of adoption of Open RAN equipment.

Key customers and partnerships

As of November 2024, Parallel Wireless partnered with over 50 mobile network operators (MNOs) worldwide to support multiple generations of cellular technology.

  1. In 2019, it partnered with regional MNO Inland Cellular to deploy Open RAN solutions for 4G network services that can be upgraded to 5G.
  2. In February 2024, Parallel Wireless partnered with Türk Telekom to integrate its Open RAN 2G, 3G, and 4G technology within the latter’s field trial infrastructure, with 5G technology under lab evaluation (November 2024).
