Fractile

Fractile is a UK-based startup developing AI chips. Fractile claims its technology addresses several challenges in the current AI landscape, including the high costs associated with provisioning and running AI models at scale, limited AI performance, and restricted potential for AI models to drive differentiation. The company's approach focuses on accelerating inference, which enables exploring new ways to use leading AI models in solving computationally heavy problems, including drug discovery, climate modeling, and video generation. 

Its memory model inference technology runs 100% of its operations on memory—compared to conventional approaches that run on the processor—resulting in a memory bottleneck. Hence, it claims to offer solutions that can run AI models 100x faster and 10x cheaper than conventional approaches, with 20x better performance per watt of energy than current AI hardware (August 2024).

In July 2024, Fractile exited stealth mode and aimed to enter partnerships to accelerate progress toward launching its first commercial AI accelerator hardware.
