Textile Change is a Danish technology company that turns textile waste into raw material for fiber production. Its dissolution technology processes fibers at the molecular level to separate textile blends without degrading the quality. The company utilizes the polymer recycling processes for blended textiles, including any combination of polyester, natural fibers (cotton, hemp), and regenerated cellulose fibers (viscose, lyocell) to produce cellulose and polyester from textile waste.
As of September 2023, Textile Change has commissioned a pilot plant with a processing capacity of several thousand tons per annum in Denmark with funding from the Danish Ministry of Environment. The pilot is expected to demonstrate the commercial competitiveness of the company’s technology.
Key customers and partnerships
In March 2023, Textile Change partnered with Circa to test its bio-based solvent, Cyrene, in the separation and decolorization of waste textiles into cellulose and polyester. Through the partnership, the company expects to establish a low-carbon, less energy-intensive production process.
