YDLabs is a fermentation R&D center founded in 2022, specializing in serving the food tech industry. The company focuses on bacteria- and yeast-based fermentation processes, supporting the development and optimization of a range of products, including alternative proteins, food coloring, animal-like fats, enzymes, oils, and flavor and aroma compounds. YDLabs offers fermentation services across scales, from 10 to 20,000 liters, enabling companies to transition from development to production.
YDLabs’ offerings include pilot and demo-scale fermentation, separation and purification, analytics, regulatory assistance, and support for economic feasibility experiments and consumer testing. These services help companies advance R&D, establish regulatory dossiers, and produce small-scale trading batches.
In June 2023, the Israel Innovation Authority selected YDLabs to establish and operate a state-of-the-art fermentation facility to serve Israel's food tech industry. With an investment of up to 50 million NIS (USD 14.1 million), the facility provides infrastructure and expertise to help companies in research, development, and production using fermentation technologies.
