Woodland Biofuels (Woodland) is a Canadian biofuel company that generates low-cost ethanol, hydrogen, renewable natural gas, and methanol using non-food waste biomass through a gasification process.
The company operates a demonstration plant in Sarnia, Ontario at the Bio Industrial Innovation Centre, which has successfully generated ethanol from waste biomass. Woodland intends to commercialize its technology by building and operating its own biofuel facilities as well as licensing its technology to its operating partners.
Funding and financials
Woodland’s most recent funding event was in August 2019, when it raised CAD 4.7 million (USD 4 million) from Natural Resources Canada (a Canadian government organization). The funds went toward scaling up the Ontario biofuel demonstration plant.
