Kasita is a company that designs and builds modular hotel units, offering a unique hospitality experience for independent travelers. Their concept revolves around individual, detached modular units that serve as guest suites, creating a hotel compound rather than a traditional single-building hotel. Each 300-square-foot suite is constructed off-site in a factory, featuring a bed, sitting area, kitchenette, bathroom, and modern amenities like customizable lighting systems and intelligent temperature and sound controls.
The modular construction approach allows for quicker and more cost-effective development compared to conventional hotels, while also providing the flexibility to establish properties in unique locations such as golf courses, distilleries, and wineries. Kasita's modular hotels typically consist of 19-25 individual suites and a community building with common areas and facilities for guests.
Kasita's model eliminates the need for front desk staff and traditional check-in processes. Guests can make reservations, check-in, and gain access to their suite through a self-selected PIN, communicating with hosts via app, text, or email. This approach offers the privacy and autonomy of a short-term rental while maintaining consistent quality and service standards of a luxury hotel chain.
In November 2018, Kasita's original tiny home business ceased operations. The company's assets were subsequently acquired, and Kasita pivoted to the modular hotel concept, leveraging the existing modular construction infrastructure.
