In January 2022, the company acquired the electronic communication security provider Totemo, which provides solutions to secure electronic communication in compliance with regulations like GDPR, SOX, and HIPAA. The company provides email encryption, secure data transfer, and secure mobile communications. The company serves hundreds of large multinational organizations across the German, Austrian, and Swiss markets.

Totemo’s technology was integrated into the Kiteworks platform to provide automatic coverage to secure, track, and control sensitive content metadata on users, apps, devices, networks, protocols, and files sent and received via emails across the corporate network in real time. The acquisition provided automation and expanded the email encryption capabilities of the platform in accordance with S/MIME, OpenPGP, and TLS standards.
