Cibotica is a Canada-based developer of a robotic salad and bowl makeline named “Remy.” Remy uses proprietary, AI-driven, ingredient-dispensing technology to prepare salads and bowls. The technology is adaptable to restaurant menus and can support a range of ingredients in various shapes and sizes. Remy can produce up to 300 salads per hour.
Remy can be integrated with point of sale (POS) systems or online channels. When an order is placed, Remy creates a prioritized order queue and prepares the order using preloaded ingredients automatically dispensed into a bowl that travels along a magnetic conveyor belt. The system is supported by the company’s culinary management software Cibotica OS, which can be connected with back- and front-of-house systems.
Cibotica intends to market the technology to restaurant formats that require the assembly of a wide variety of ingredients, such as quick service restaurants, fresh produce processing centers, and meal kit companies. In December 2023 , Cibotica unveiled its first fully operational food robot at a multi brand, digital foodhall named Food Republic in Vancouver, Canada.
Remy is available for outright purchases as well as on robotics-as-a-service (RaaS) model.
Key customers and partnerships
In May 2024, Cibotica entered a three-year partnership with Seattle-based pizzeria MOTO to offer robot-made salads at select Pizzeria locations.
Funding and financials
In May 2023, Cibotica received a grant of CAD 90,000+ (~USD 67,000) from the Canadian Food Innovation Network’s Innovation Booster Program to develop a food safe dispensing mechanism and associated control algorithms for the robot.
