Founded in Munich, Germany by noted global entrepreneur Thomas Hohenacker, Cleverciti provides smart parking solutions to help cities and firms reduce traffic and emissions while providing a revenue uplift. Cleverciti’s sensors, which can be installed at parking lots, are able to analyze on-street parking spaces providing real-time updates every three seconds. Leveraging both smart parking hardware and software, the firm provides several solutions including a cloud-based space and curb management platform to monitor real-time parking occupancy, digital parking guidance displays for parking guidance and advertising, smart permit and payment cards for contactless access and payments, and smart lampposts (existing lampposts can be upgraded to deploy varied smart devices and lighting control). The firm also develops white-label mobile apps for parking discovery and contactless payments, which can be integrated with existing park and go apps. 

Key customers and partnerships

The firm's solutions are geared toward cities, transport operators as well as a range of parking asset owners and operators like office buildings, convention centers, hospitals, stadiums, and universities. Its users include the City of San Antonio, Stadt Koln, South Western Railway, Sibley Memorial Hospital, and the University of British Columbia. As of April 2022, Cleverciti’s solutions have been deployed in 200+ locations in 20+ countries.

The firm also entered several partnerships, including with telecommunication providers (Vodafone, Sprint), smart parking dashboard providers (Cisco, Itron), parking sensor manufacturers (Park Assist, Quercus), and payment platforms (T2) in order to integrate and extend the capabilities of its solutions. 

Funding and financials

In October 2020 the firm raised USD 5.6 million in Series A funding led by SPDG Ventures to expand its sales and marketing teams as well accelerate the deployment of its solutions.
