ICEYE is a satellite imaging company based in Finland that specializes in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology. It operates a constellation of small SAR satellites capable of capturing high-resolution images of the Earth's surface day or night, and in any weather conditions. The company's satellites utilize X-band SAR sensors and active phased array antennas to observe the Earth in various imaging modes, including stripmap, spotlight, and ScanSAR.
ICEYE's SAR satellites can detect and track changes on the Earth's surface, making them valuable for applications such as maritime monitoring, infrastructure assessment, natural catastrophe response and recovery, national security, and climate change monitoring. The company's flagship product is its Near Real-Time Intelligence solution, which provides detailed insights into floods, wildfires, and other natural disasters, assisting governments, insurers, and other organizations in anticipating and responding to such events.
As of November 2023, ICEYE had successfully deployed 31 satellites since its first launch in 2018, establishing itself as the owner and operator of the world's largest SAR satellite fleet. This growing constellation enables ICEYE to provide customers with faster access to data and higher revisit rates for monitoring high-frequency phenomena.
In 2022, ICEYE entered into a partnership with BAE Systems to integrate its SAR technology into BAE's multi-sensor satellite constellation, known as Azalea, scheduled for launch in 2024. Additionally, in August 2022, ICEYE signed a contract with the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation, providing the Ukrainian Armed Forces with access to its SAR satellite imagery over Ukraine.
