 An industry-led, non-profit organization, Protein Industries Canada, has announced a collaboration with Roquette, Prairie Fava, BioNeutra, and Plant Up. This partnership aims to promote plant-based food innovation and market diversification. The goal focuses on creating new ingredients and products, refining efficiencies in processes, and exploring growth opportunities for co-products.
 The collaboration is keen on developing new fava-based ingredients, identifying applications for pea starch and fiber, and broadening the range through new products and markets for protein, starch, and fiber. As the project leader, Roquette's responsibilities include creating new ingredients and enhancing processing productivity. Concurrently, Prairie Fava will work towards expanding fava bean grounds and developing dehulling technology.
 A total of CAD 24.5 million (~USD 17.9 million) funds have been arranged for this project wherein Protein Industries Canada will contribute ~CAD 10.7 million (~USD 7.8 million) while the four partners jointly contribute ~CAD 13.7 million (~USD 10 million). The project anticipates further support from the Canadian Departments of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development and Agriculture and Agri-Food.
