Kenzen is a company that has developed a wearable device designed to monitor and predict heat-related injuries and illnesses in industrial workers. The device tracks core body temperature, heart rate, activity levels, and environmental factors such as temperature and humidity. This data is then analyzed using Kenzen's proprietary algorithms to identify potential risks and alert workers and managers when physiological indicators reach dangerous levels.
The company's technology was initially developed with the aim of monitoring athletes, but the founders quickly realized that the industrial market presented a larger and underserved opportunity. Kenzen's solution is particularly relevant for industries such as construction, energy, mining, and utilities, where workers are frequently exposed to hazardous heat conditions.
Kenzen's wearable device is designed to be rugged and unobtrusive, allowing workers to forget they are wearing it while performing their daily tasks. The company claims to have developed the largest validated dataset of core body temperature across different age groups, genders, and worksites globally, enabling its algorithm to accurately predict heat injury or illness from a wearable device.
In addition to its core product, Kenzen is also working on a machine learning-based illness detection system in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This system aims to identify potential illnesses by detecting deviations from an individual's baseline health data.
