Aquaai is a California-based company that uses AI, computer vision, machine learning, and biomimicry to create robotic fish that monitor the ocean's surface and collect data. Its product offering consists of three components: A fish-like AUV, data, and a software platform. The company also operates a subsidiary in Norway.
Aquaai's untethered AUV, MAZU, is equipped with three cameras and 16 sensors to operate in marine and freshwater environments and can be leased or purchased. Additional features, such as a 360-degree camera or oxygen sensors, are also available. MAZU collects real-time environmental data in various water environments and delivers it in real-time to an online dashboard (Aquaai Control System Dashboard), providing customers with an end-to-end fish-as-a-service (FaaS) solution.
The company claims to offer its services at one-third the cost of conventional systems. As of February 2022, after extensive trials and fine-tuning of its product, Aquaai was preparing its AUVs for customers and had received pre-orders for 86 robots at that time.
