Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE: TSM) is the world's largest dedicated semiconductor foundry, headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Founded in 1987 by Morris Chang, TSMC pioneered the pure-play foundry model, focusing exclusively on manufacturing chips designed by other companies.

TSMC offers a comprehensive range of wafer fabrication processes, including advanced nodes like 3nm, 5nm and 7nm, as well as specialty technologies. The company provides contract manufacturing services to major technology firms such as Apple, Nvidia, Qualcomm, AMD and others across various sectors including smartphones, high-performance computing, automotive and internet of Things. TSMC also offers services in packaging, testing, mask making and other areas as part of its "Foundry 2.0" paradigm.

As of Q4 2023, TSMC dominated the global foundry market with a 61% share. The company is at the forefront of leading-edge chip manufacturing, with its 3nm process entering volume production in 2022 and 2nm slated for 2025. TSMC is expanding its manufacturing footprint globally, with new facilities under construction in Arizona, Japan and potentially Europe. The company is investing heavily in capacity expansion, with capital expenditures of USD 25-28 billion planned for 2024 to meet surging demand for advanced chips, particularly those used in artificial intelligence applications.
