nTopology is a provider of additive manufacturing (AM) software for advanced product and process design, product modeling, generating workflows, and topology optimization. It targets aerospace, defense, automotive, medical, and consumer goods applications.
The company offers two products:
1) nTop: Offers real-time visualization of designs and patent-pending GPU acceleration, an opt-in feature that improves performance by around 10x–100x. This allows combining simulation results, experimental data, and engineering knowledge of the designer.
2) nTop Automate: Allows the automation of the design process by combining inputs from different sources to build more intelligent workflows. It can modify a large number of similar products at once, explore a wide range of designs fast, and deploy mass customization processes.
nTopology software can be integrated with other major computer-aided design (CAD), product lifecycle management (PLM), and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software. Through a command-line application programming interface (API), the solutions can also be integrated with a company’s existing engineering software stack.
Further, according to the company, parts designed using nTopology software require little to no post-processing, as the software is capable of generating smooth geometries that are usable immediately.
Key customers and partnerships
As of January 2024, nTopology had served 550+ customers including Ford, Lockheed Martin, Honeywell, and Aerojet Rocketdyne. As of May 2022, the company had entered into strategic partnerships for product and technology collaboration with 20+ additive and automated manufacturing companies including Siemens, GE Additive, Ansys, Stratasys, and Holo. The company has several distribution partnerships including Yamaichi to bring nTop software to Japan (June 2020) and with MSL to expand the adoption of software in the UK (March 2022).
Funding and financials
In November 2021, nTopology raised USD 65 million in Series D funding led by Tiger Global, bringing the company’s total funding to USD 135 million. The funds were expected to be used to expand its international reach and further improve the software.
