Skycision provides SaaS solutions using computer vision and machine learning techniques to decipher drone-collected imagery to help farmers better understand how to improve crop productivity and yield. These techniques record crop stress and other factors affecting the growth of crops and present appropriate solutions to farmers. The drones fly to the farm, collect infrared images, and use them to create a detailed map. For instance, the infrared sensors can detect the quantity of chlorophyll in plants, with a drop in chlorophyll levels indicating a possible pest or plant disease and stress maps detailing areas with strong, poor, or changing levels.
Skycision claims its popular drone imagery solutions have propelled its revenue rates to around USD 132,000 as of 2018. It also partnered with supplier Driscoll, a California-based seller of fresh strawberries and other berries, with the intention of expanding its focus beyond just the wine grapes market to newer frontiers.
