Ingantec claims to have developed the world’s first ever bright red microLEDs smaller than 10µm using InGaN material, used in AR and VR displays. The material is compatible with blue and green microLEDs, allowing for a more cost-effective manufacturing process by eliminating the need for mass pixel transfer.
To address challenges of decreasing brightness when scaling down the size of microLEDs, Ingantec utilizes a proprietary, patent-pending technology that integrates compound semiconductor materials and specialized processing techniques, allowing for the production of monolithic RGB microLEDs. Commercialization of its patent-pending technology was originally licensed from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and further developed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW Madison).
Other areas in which its displays are utilized include smart watches, automotive heads-up displays (HUDs) and smartphones.
