Fireflies is an artificial intelligence (AI) meeting assistant and it provides a note-taking tool that can be set to auto-join all meetings through the user’s calendar, and it transcribes in real time while providing users the ability to fetch action items and meeting highlights at a later date. The platform launched its speech-to-text transcription tool in October 2018. The company was founded in 2016 by Krish Ramineni (former product manager at Microsoft) and Sam Udotong.
In May 2021, the company announced that it had raised USD 14 million in a Series A funding round led by Khosla Ventures. The round included participation from Canaan Partners and angel investors. This round brings the total funding to USD 19 million, with its most recent financing coming from a seed round in October 2019. The fresh capital will be funneled toward expanding its workforce, customer acquisition, and platform development.
The company’s Series A round was likely brought on by the significant growth it has experienced over the past year. It claims revenue grew threefold, supported by more than 2 million users across 200,000 organizations.
