Vartega

Vartega manufactures recycled carbon fiber through its patented recycling process. The company follows a hardware-as-a-service (HaaS) model, where businesses can subscribe to the use of its carbon fiber recycling machine. The company recycles scrapped carbon fiber in composite materials, fabric, or tape from industries such as aerospace, automobile, and garments, into a low-cost, lightweight alternative (virgin carbon fiber). The recycled carbon fiber can be used in automotive and industrial applications. It can also be used as woven fabric, 3D printing filaments, and thermoplastic pallets across consumer products as well as for sporting goods applications. The company's operations are based in North America with expansion plans in Europe and Asia.

As of March 2024, the company operates a 82,000 sq ft facility in Denver with a planned capacity of 2,000 metric tons per year.

Key customers and partnerships

In November 2023, Vartega extended its partnership with Xtellar, a leader in additive manufacturing materials development, to expand manufacturing and research capabilities at Vartega’s facility located in Golden, Colorado.

Funding and financials

In January 2024, Vartega raised USD 10 million in an oversubscribed preferred equity funding round led by Diamond Edge Ventures, to fully utilize its new 82,000 sq ft production facility and commercialize additional recycling processes to broaden feedstock availability.
