Personio is an HR management platform with integrated workforce management and payroll functions. Workforce management services include performance management and feedback along with payroll, which is limited to document preparation but does not include payments.
The company has expanded its product offering over time, with notable updates including Personio Conversations (an AI-powered chatbot to answer employees HR related questions), Personio Whistleblowing (a centralized solution for anonymous reporting), an International Absence Engine (allowing companies operating across Europe to better navigate varied labor laws), employee surveys and compensation management features.

The company targets SMEs with 10-2,000 employees and as of April 2024, the company served over 10,000 customers, increasing from 6,000 in June 2022. Notable enterprises using the platform included Lush, Statista and Spendesk.
In February 2021, the company partnered with employee experience platform Culture Amp to allow its customers to leverage Culture Amp’s suite of employee engagement, performance management, and development tools.
