Vibronix is a company focused on developing advanced imaging and sensing technologies for disease diagnosis and treatment. It provides innovative integrated solutions that leverage vibrational spectroscopy, optical and acoustic imaging, augmented reality, and machine learning for fast and precise surgery. Vibronix aims to benefit patients globally by enhancing accuracy and efficiency in healthcare services.
Founded in 2013 by Dr. Ji-Xin Cheng and Dr. Pu Wang at Purdue University, Vibronix comprises a team with expertise in biomedical engineering, analytical chemistry, machine learning, and medical device development. Its scientific and technical innovations have been recognized through multiple grants and partnerships with several top research institutes and companies.
One of Vibronix's key offerings is an intravascular sensor that can identify and locate the buildup of lipids (caused by cholesterol) on arterial walls, a major risk factor for heart disease. The sensor, around one millimeter in size, emits light onto the arterial wall, and the lipid component responds by emitting acoustic signals detected by the sensor. By rotating and pulling back the sensor in the artery, a 3D view is created, showing high-density lipid sections on the arterial wall. This technology could help cardiologists better understand the severity and location of plaque buildup, leading to improved heart disease diagnosis and treatment.
