Vectra offers the “Cognito” platform, which includes a suite of tools to detect cyber threats in the cloud, a company’s data centers, and IoT networks. The platform is artificial intelligence-powered and accelerates real-time detection, prioritization, and investigation of known and unknown threats. The company also offers a network detection and response (NDR) function, which monitors network access and usage to identify suspicious behavior and threats, such as ransomware, to assist in response actions.
During 2020, Vectra recorded sales growth surpassing 100%, and its “Cognito Detect” security product for Microsoft 365 applications grew at a rate of 340%. Vectra claims its solutions are used by companies operating in financial services, manufacturing, education, healthcare, energy, and government.
Vectra acquired the identity and SaaS posture management startup, Siriux Security Technologies in January 2022. Siriux Security Technologies provides the M365 Vulnerability Assessment tool that is based on four key principles including privilege management, attack surface reduction, service hardening, and transitive trust management. Siriux Security’s M365 scan tool analyzes the security settings in cloud-based applications such as Microsoft Azure AD and Microsoft 365 against these principles to provide threat remediation recommendations to minimize the attack surface. The acquisition helps Vectra’s customers to securely configure and detect threats in cloud identity and SaaS applications.
In April 2021, Vectra raised USD 130 million in a Series F funding round led by Blackstone at a valuation of USD 1.2 billion. The company expects to use the funding to develop solutions for cloud-native application protection, which will require it to expand its team and invest in R&D. Vectra will also explore acquisition opportunities to gain new technology and more customers.
