Reju is a materials regeneration company specializing in textile-to-textile recycling, with a focus on polyester textiles and PET waste. Founded in November 2023 and owned by Technip Energies, Reju uses proprietary technology originally developed by IBM research to convert post-consumer textiles into virgin quality polyester. The company's process guarantees textile-to-textile traceability and produces Reju Polyester, which has a 50% lower carbon footprint compared to virgin polyester and can be regenerated infinitely. In October 2024, Reju established its first operational facility, Regeneration Hub Zero, in Frankfurt, Germany. This demonstration plant has a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per year and is scheduled to begin product deliveries in 2025.
Key customers and partnerships
In October 2024, Reju announced plans to collaborate with Goodwill Industries International and WM to advance textile recycling in North America. The initiative aims to develop a regional model for textile collection, sortation, reuse, and recycling. As part of this collaboration, Reju plans to establish a US-based regeneration hub to process materials collected through the Goodwill and WM network. In November 2024, Reju partnered with Nouvelles Fibres Textiles (NFT) in France to establish a circular textile ecosystem, with NFT supplying post-consumer and post-industrial waste textiles to Reju while ensuring 100% material traceability.
