Blockcast offers a decentralized content delivery network (CDN) that aggregates capacity from several globally located nodes to deliver high-bandwidth content to large audiences while reducing data consumption, rebuffering, and latency. The solution leverages Multicast Adaptive HTTP Proxy (MAHP) technology to enable efficient content delivery to multiple receivers using a single physical resource simultaneously. It provides broadcast security protocols and leverages standard CDN methods, like the open caching APIs to allow content providers to securely add capacity to their delivery architecture from broadcasters and ISPs.
Moreover, content providers can incorporate the Blockcast Network into their delivery architecture by purchasing capacity on the company’s capacity marketplace.
As of October 2024, the company planned to expand its platform further and launch a pre-order campaign for its home RELAY nodes. These devices can connect to a home router and wall socket, enabling users to contribute to content delivery and earn rewards.
