B rigad is a French startup that offers a platform that connects freelancers with businesses in the restaurant, catering, healthcare, and hospitality sectors for short-term work in France and the UK. Brigad initially focused on the hospitality industry in France, helping restaurants fill scheduling gaps with temporary staff like waiters, chefs, and bartenders. In 2021, Brigad expanded its services to include the healthcare sector. Brigad distinguishes itself from other freelance platforms, which focus on business consultants and developers, and temp staffing agencies, as the roles it fills often require specific training or qualifications.

The healthcare sector, a recent addition to Brigad's offerings, accounted for 25% of the platform's job postings, as of February 2023. The platform allows institutions to manage their schedules more effectively, increase revenue, and foster a different kind of relationship with restaurants, caterers, and clinics. When an opportunity is posted, Brigad automatically sends the job offer to around two dozen qualified individuals in the area who are interested in the pay rate. The first person to respond is paired with the job. The company notes that the average freelancer receives about a hundred job offers per month through the platform. Brigad takes a 20% commission from each completed job.

As of February 2023, ~10,000 organizations used Brigad, typically offering one job posting per week. In 2022, Brigad facilitated 200,000 jobs.

Funding and financials

In February 2023, the company raised USD 30 million in a funding round led by Balderton Capital, alongside raising USD 5 million in debt.
