Expensya

Expensya is a spend management solution founded in Tunisia in 2014 by former Microsoft software engineers Karim Jouini and Jihed Othmani. The company offers web, mobile, and smart payment-card solutions to automate expense management for businesses. Expensya's platform uses artificial intelligence to streamline the entire process of expense capture, processing, and reimbursement. The software integrates with leading ERP applications such as SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Dynamics.

As of July 2023, Expensya served more than 6,000 customers with 700,000 active users across over 100 countries. The company's solution covers various types of expenses including online purchases, general costs, expense reports, remote work, per diems, and mileage expenses. Expensya's mobile application allows users to manage expenses on-the-go, even offline, by simply taking a photo of a receipt. The platform then automatically creates, categorizes, and records the expense report.

In June 2023, Medius, a provider of accounts payable automation, announced its intent to acquire Expensya. This acquisition was described as one of the largest in the MENA region and came after a period of impressive revenue growth for Expensya, which more than doubled its recurring revenue in the two years prior.

Key customers and partnerships

Expensya has established several key partnerships to enhance its offerings. In April 2019, the company announced an integration with Uber, allowing Uber riders to transfer their receipts directly to Expensya from the Uber app. This integration aimed to simplify the expense management process for business travelers using Uber's services.

In the same year, Expensya partnered with 60dias, a leading platform for VAT recovery of travel expenses. This collaboration enabled clients to achieve significant savings on travel expenses by combining Expensya's expense report management with 60dias' VAT recovery services.

Expensya also integrates with various travel booking providers and supports multi-currency management. The company has partnerships with third-party travel managers like Uvet, Uber, Egencia, and Open Booking, further expanding its capabilities in managing travel-related expenses for its users.
