Discovery Education is a provider of digital textbooks, multimedia resources, and a professional learning network for K-12 education. The company’s digital science education resources include Discovery Education Experience, the Science Techbook series, and STEM Connect. Discovery Education’s Impact Network is composed of colleges and university partners that offer online Master’s degrees, certifications, and micro-credential programs to working educators.

Global media company Discovery, Inc. formed Discovery Education as a business unit in 2004 and sold a majority stake in the business to private equity firm Francisco Partners in February 2018. As of February 2021, Discovery Education served around 4.5 million educators and 45 million students in more than 140 countries and territories.

Discovery Education's recent acquisitions include UK-based Inspyro, a virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) developer, in August 2019, UK-based Spiral, the provider of a platform supporting collaborative learning and formative assessments in class and remote settings, in July 2020, and California-based Mystery Science, a provider of K-5 science and STEM curriculums, in October 2020.

In November 2020, Louisiana Tech University joined the Impact Network and launched four new online graduate courses created in partnership with Discovery Education. The four courses are designed for educators teaching in online learning environments across Louisiana to learn new skills and advance their careers.

In February 2021, Discovery Education made several updates to its platform to improve user experience such as allowing a variety of logins, integration with leading learning management systems, rostering of students and classes, and offering teachers several support channels. Resources added to the platform include the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Center, which provides a curated library of SEL resources for students and educators, and the African American Experiences channel, which provides educators with resources for teaching African American history that aim to shed light on tolerance, social justice, and America’s complex history. In September 2021, the company further enhanced its learning platform by adding Amazon Web Services (AWS) machine learning capabilities named “Just For You” to enable educators to spend less time searching for digital resources by connecting them to a personalized set of resources based on the grade level taught, preferences, and previously used assets.
